Add Custom Sync Filters using Tenant Settings!

December 14, 2023

Simeon makes managing configurations across multiple tenants easy. Sometimes, you may need to customize which configurations get included in your Sync. We are pleased to announce that you can do just that using custom Sync filters under Tenant Settings! These filters allow you to specify configurations or configuration types that you want to include or exclude from your Sync.

Include filters allow you to specify which configurations get included in a Sync of a specific configuration type. For example, if you would like to only manage Azure AD configurations, you can set an include filter for each of the Azure AD configurations of interest. All other configurations will be excluded from the Sync.

Exclude filters allow you to specify which configurations you would like to exclude from a Sync. For example, setting an exclude filter for Groups/All Company will prevent this configuration from being included in the Sync. Instead, you will see this configuration appear as skipped in the Sync Summary and on Reconcile.

To get started with custom Sync filters, navigate to the Sync page > click the gear under Settings > Set configuration filters > select the configuration type > optionally, add a specific configuration name > Save. To confirm the filter, you must run a Sync.

Platform Updates:

  • Last week, Simeon released an update that requires you to approve a change to Service Principal Authentication for all tenants. To ensure you receive the latest Simeon updates and to continue to Sync without issue, you must approve all tenants pending approval for this change as soon as possible. For information about this change, including what action you need to take, please see our FAQ here. If you have any questions, please reach out to support@simeoncoud.com.
  • Simeon now supports reporting on Application Secrets, including Secrets expiration dates. These can be found under Azure AD > App registrations > Secrets. As a result of this change, you may see these configurations get exported during the nightly Syncs. This is expected and can be disregarded.
